Ihwamun(the Plum Blossom Crest) was adopted in 1897 by Emperor Gojong as the official emblem of the Korean Empire. This motif, symbolizing the imperial family, can still be seen in Deoksugung Palace on chandeliers, glass lampshades, and other decorative elements of the time. On historic lamp-shades, it appears as a multilayered blossom with 20 or 25 stamens, engraved using acid etching so the design stands out clearly when illuminated. The SNOWMAN8 Portable Plum Blossom Edition was created through a collaboration between the Korea Heritage Agency and ILKW, reinterpreting imperial-era lighting in a contemporary design. The shade of the SNOWMAN is engraved with a refined Ihwamun motif, while the body is finished in Emerald Green, a traditional color often used in dancheong(decorative painting on wooden palace architecture) during the late Joseon dynasty. SNOWMAN is an original design by ILKW, one of Korea's most iconic lighting brands. Since its launch, it has been loved in Korea and exported to the United States, Japan, Hong Kong China, and Taiwan, bringing Korean design to the world.
